Has Firefly Lane been renewed for season 2?
It took a few months but Netflix officially made an announcement that Firefly Lane returned for the second season on May 27, 2021. The news was announced through their social media platforms and on YouTube, where they had actress Katherine Heigel and Sarah Chalke answered fans’ questions, and made official announcements.
The first season does not cover all the material from the novel, so there are still many Tully and Kate stories remaining to tell. There is also a sequel to novel, fly away, which expands the story further. Maggie Friedman has been confirmed to be back as a showrunner for season 2. Michael Spiller (Modern Family, Scrubs) has been estimated to direct in season 2.
What to expect from Firefly Lane season 2
Spoiler in front! If you haven’t finished season 1, don’t read further! At the end of season 1, we left with two pictures of Tully and Kate’s very contrasting relationship. After Tully came out of his show, the couple enjoyed a comfortable incident by Firepit, where Tully promised Kate that he would help him get a job when he was employed again.
We then have a flashforward to the scene in the future, where the couple has an emotional confrontation at the cemetery, with Kate stated that he never wanted to see Tully again. No doubt, season 2 will explain what happens to Tully’s broken bones and Kate’s relationship cannot be improved. However, given that this is a show about friendship, we do not believe that both will not happen in the end.
Although the final confrontative occurs at the burial, it is unclear who the funeral is. Because Tully arrived to give respect, it was clearly the funeral of someone closest to Kate. We have two possible candidates: Kate’s ex -husband, Johnny, who left for Iraq, or the father of the elderly Kate. Either way, the second season will cover his impact on Kate and her teenage daughter, angry.
We think season 2 will also explore what happened next with Tully’s career, including if he once offered the job kate. Of course, because Firefly Lane is based on a pretty well -known novel, you don’t need to find too hard to find out what really happened next to Tully and Kate.
