Big UAE Change: Work Week Is 4.5 Days Long, Saturday-Sunday Weekend

Dubai: The United Arab Emirates is cutting its functioning week to four-and-a-half days and moving its end of the week from Friday and Saturday to Saturday and Sunday, authorities said.

The “public working week” will be compulsory for government bodies from January and is pointed toward further developing balance between fun and serious activities and monetary seriousness, state media said on Tuesday.

“The UAE is the main country on the planet to present a public working week more limited than the worldwide five-day week,” official news office WAM revealed.

The UAE will turn into the main Gulf country with a Saturday-Sunday weekend, a move that aligns it with the vast majority of the non-Arab world. The weekend will begin around early afternoon on Fridays, the day of supplication in Muslim nations.

The long end of the week comes as a component of the UAE government’s endeavors to support balance between fun and serious activities and upgrade social prosperity, while expanding execution to propel the UAE’s financial seriousness.”
