WhatsApp is working on adding an edit button for text messages

Google message users in India have reported receiving unwanted advertising floods in recent weeks using the Rich Communication Services (RCS), and Google has used the response strategy: Turn off everything. Company spokesman Kaori Miyake confirmed to the threshold that Google has deactivated features in India: “We realize that some businesses are abusing our anti-spam policies to send promotional messages to users in India. We disable this feature in India when we work with industry to improve users’ experience. “

The advertisement in question is delivered through the RCS business message feature, which allows business to be verified to send messages to customers who go beyond typical text, with images and interactive features. Google gives it as a way for the brand to communicate with established customers – the message you might want on your cellphone. But people who use RC in India have experienced it differently. They often see messages coming from businesses that encourage credit cards and gambling applications, among others.

Until now, people report that the only way to avoid advertising attacks is to turn off RCS at all – not an ideal experience. Google’s step to turn off business messages is a better alternative in the short term, but it is clearly not long -term improvement. In 2019, the Director of Android Product Management Order Sanaz Ahari tells us that the company’s vision for RCS is “a great and simple user experience that only functions for every Android user.” RCS has come far since then, but obviously there are still some work that must be done.
